American Dietetic Association
Leading organization of professional dietitians. Its Journal of the American Dietetic Association sets the standard for scientific journals in its field. Site includes a directory of ADA-member dietitians and numerous free other resources.
American Heart Association
Top research, advocacy, and education organization in its field. Site includes tips for healthy living and a voluminous Heart & Stroke Encyclopedia, as well as advice on helping to raise funds for heart research and to lobby for public policy supporting heart health.
Choose to Move 2000
"A fun, free, and flexible physical activity program developed for women" by the American Heart Association. The program "lasts 12 weeks and is designed to help participants gradually increase their physical activity levels to 30 minutes on most days of the week -- a level shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. Each week, participants receive information, tips and activities to complete. Besides helping women to establish physical activity as a habit, Choose To Move also offers information on healthy eating and weight management."
